APFL JOINS INFRASTRUCTURE CONFERENCE IN SINGAPORE
This month, APFL’s HCMC-based Partner Etienne Laumonier spoke at a roundtable event in Singapore for the launch of the CMS Infrastructure Index.
Co-organised with the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (“SCCA”), the event brought together experts from across the region to highlight emerging trends and discuss topics in infrastructure and renewables and share opportunities and challenges for investors in these sectors.
The CMS Infrastructure Index aims to help investors better understand the landscape in jurisdictions across the region. Singapore (5th overall) placed highest in Asia Pacific, wth Hong Kong (15th), Malaysia (32nd), the Philippines, (34th), Indonesia (35th), and Thailand (36th) also making the top 50.
Speaking at the event, Etienne discussed how private capital and foreign direct investment (“FDI”) will have a crucial role in delivering infrastructure projects in Asia Pacific. This is even more important in Vietnam, where there is a significant demand for new projects and infrastructure development.
In particular, there is an infrastructure funding gap in Vietnam, with growth in sectors such as renewables, logistics, and transport outweighing available public finance. Etienne highlighted how private finance and public-private partnerships (“PPP”) could help to bridge this gap and bring much-needed investment to help maintain economic growth.
APFL Partners is recognised across the region as a leading firm in projects and energy. Our practice features in prestigious international rankings including IFLR 1000, Chambers & Partners, and Legal 500, who remarked:
