APFL Joins Manufacturing Investment Roundtable

Earlier this month, APFL Senior Associate Pham Viet Anh was delighted to speak at a roundtable event organised by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), the Master’s program in Franco-Asian Business Law at the University of Paris Pantheon Assas, and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.

Titled ‘Investing in Vietnam’s Manufacturing Sector’ the event brought together legal experts, tax advisors, and business leaders to discuss legal and commercial advice to French investors and the advantages of entering the manufacturing sector in Vietnam.

Pham Viet Anh, who is also a professor of law, spoke alongside presenters from CCIFV, Rosemont Business Asia, and the Southeast Asia IP SME Helpdesk run from the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. In her presentation, she shared a legal overview of the regulations impacting foreign investors looking to enter Vietnam with a particular focus on the regulations affecting investors in the manufacturing sector.

Other speakers covered the attractiveness of the manufacturing sector in Vietnam, including its strategic geographic location, low-cost labour, and materials; the tax implications and incentives compared with other transport hubs in the region; and IP considerations such as brand protection and risks of counterfeiting. The event rounded off with a Q&A with the speakers taking questions from the floor.
