Our team acted as the legal advisor of a major Vietnamese company on the Phu My 2.2 gas-fired power plant (700MW) project. This included the design, development, construction, financing, management, commissioning, and operation on the basis of a concession / BOT-type structure at Phu My, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. The project was awarded ‘Best Project Finance Deal 2002’ by Finance Asia Magazine and ‘Asia Pacific Power Deal of the Year 2002’ by the Project Finance International magazine.
Our lawyers also acted for a major European oil company in a US$250 million bitumen project in the South of Vietnam; and the foreign sponsors in a US$100 million sugar refinery loan.

We also led a study of the legal environment for BOT projects in Vietnam. The report provided an overview of the existing Vietnamese regulations relating to BOT projects in Vietnam and identified the main legal and tax issues of concern to foreign investors involved in BOT projects.
